John Ernest Bode (1816-1874)

誕生:1816年2月23日、英国ミドルセクス州セント・パンクラス。
死亡:1874年10月6日、英国ケンブリッジ州キャッスルキャンプス。
埋葬地:英国ケンブリッジ州キャッスルキャンプスのオール・セインツ教会。

Bodeは、オクスフォード大学イートン校、チャーターハウス校、クライストチャーチ校に学び、1835年にハートフォード奨学金を得て、1837年に学士号を取得して卒業した(後に修士号も取得)。1841年に聖職者の任命を受け、オクスフォードシャーにあるウェストウェル、1860年にはケンブリッジシャー、キャッスルキャンプスの牧師となる。1855年には自身のBampton Lecturesを発表し、母校で準講師、また古典の試験官をしていた。
