埋葬地：ケンサルグリーン墓地、ロンドン、イングランド。

ホイットフィールドはアイルランド、ダブリンのトリニティ・カレッジ(Trinity College)で学んだ(BA 1859)。聖職者となった後、彼は連続して、オトリーの副牧師、カービー=レベンズクロフトの教区牧師、グリーンウィッチの上級副牧師、そしてベクスリーのセント・ジョン(St. John's)の教区牧師を務めた。1875年、ヘイスティングスのセント・メアリーズ(St. Mary’s)に移った。彼は、30を超える散文と詩を書いた。
