John Newton(1725-1807)

Omicron.

Omicron, 1762
A volume of sermons preached at Olney, 1767
Review of Ecclesiastical History, 1769
Olney Hymns, with William Cowper (London: W. Oliver, 1779)
Cardiphonia, 1781

 セント・メリー・ウールワスには、Newton自身が書いた墓碑銘が刻まれた大理石の銘板がある。

作詞作品:
Afflictions Do Not Come Alone
Afflictions, Though They Seem Severe
Ah, What Can I Do?
Alas! By Nature How Depraved
Alas! Elisha's Servant Cried
Although on Massy Pillars Built
Amazing Grace
Approach, My Soul, the Mercy Seat
Lord, I Approach Thy Mercy Seat
As Once for Jonah
As Parched in the Barren Sands
As Some Tall Rock Amidst the Waves
As the Serpent Raised by Moses
As the Sun's Enlivening Eye
For a Season Called to Part
As When the Weary Traveler Gains
Be Still, My Heart! These Anxious Cares
Before Elisha's Gate
Begone Unbelief
Behold the Throne of Grace
Believer, Free from Care, A
Beneath the Tyrant Satan's Yoke
Beside the Gospel Pool
Bitter, Indeed, the Waters Are
Bleak Winter Is Subdued at Length
Bless, O Lord, the Opening Year
Blinded in Youth by Satan's Arts
Book of Nature Open Lies, The
But One Loaf
By Faith in Christ I Walk with God
By the Poor Widow's Oil and Meal
By Various Maxims, Forms and Rules

Cheer Up, My Soul, There Is a Mercy-Seat
Chief Shepherd of Thy Chosen Sheep
Come, My Soul, Thy Suit Prepare
Confirm the Hope Thy Word Allows
Constrained by Their Lord to Embark
Courage, My Soul! Behold the Prize
Church a Garden Is, The
Darkness Overspreads Us Here
Day of Judgment! Day of Wonders!
Destruction's Dangerous Road
Does It Not Grief, and Wonder Move
Does the Gospel Word Proclaim
Elijah's Example Declares
Elisha, Struck with Grief and Awe
Encouraged by Thy Word
Ensnared, Too Long, My Heart Has Been
Evils That Beset Our Path, The
Father, Forgive, the Savior Said
Father of Angels and of Men
Father We Adore, The
Fervent, Persevering Prayers

He Who on Earth as Man Was Known
Hear What the Lord, the Great Amen
Here at Bethesda's Pool
Honey Though the Bee Prepares
How Blest the Righteous Are
How David, When by Sin Deceived
How Hurtful Was the Choice of Lot
How Kind the Good Samaritan
How Lost Was My Condition
How Soon the Savior's Gracious Call
How Sweet the Name of Jesus Sounds
How Tedious and Tasteless
How Welcome to the Saints, When Pressed
Hungry, and Faint, and Poor
I Am, Saith Christ
I Asked the Lord That I Might Grow
I Thirst, but Not as Once I Did
I Would, but Cannot Sing
Ice and Snow We Lately Saw, The
If for a Time the Air Be Calm
If Paul in Caesar's Court Must Stand
If Solomon for Wisdom Prayed
And Dost Thou Say
If the Lord Our Leader Be
If to Jesus for Relief
In Evil Long I Took Delight
I Saw One Hanging on a Tree
In Mercy, Not in Wrath, Rebuke
In Themselves, as Weak as Worms
In Vain My Fancy Strives to Paint
Incarnate God! The Soul That Knows
Jesus Christ, the Lord's Anointed
Jesus Is Mine! I'm Now Prepared
Jesus, to What Didst Thou Submit
Jesus, Who Bought Us with His Blood

While Thus to Grief My Soul Gave Way
My Soul Is Beset
My Soul Once Had Its Plenteous Years
My Soul, This Curious House of Clay
Nay, I Cannot Let Thee Go
Lord, I Cannot Let Thee Go
No Words Can Declare
Not to Sinai's Dreadful Blaze
Now, Gracious Lord, Thine Arm Reveal
Now Let Us Join with Hearts and Tongues
Now, Lord, Inspire the Preacher's Heart
Now May Fervent Prayer Arise
Now May He Who from the Dead
Now May the Lord Reveal His Face
O David's Son, and David's Lord
O Happy They Who Know the Lord
O How I Love Thy Holy Word
O Lord, How Vile Am I
O Lord, Our Languid Souls Inspire
Dear Shepherd of Thy People, Hear
O, May the Power Which Melts the Rock
O, Speak That Gracious Word Again
O Thou, at Whose Almighty Word
Oft as the Bell, with Solemn Toll
Oft as the Leper's Case I Read
Oft in Vain the Voice of Truth
Often Thy Public Means of Grace
On Man, in His Own Image Made
On the Same Flower We Often See
Once a Woman Silent Stood
Once Perishing in Blood I Lay
Once, While We Aimed at Zion's Songs
One Awful Word Which Jesus Spoke
One Glance of Thine, Eternal Lord
One There Is, Above All Others
Oppressed with Unbelief and Sin
Our Lord, Who Knows Full Well
Lord, Who Truly Knows, The
Peace Which God Alone Reveals, The
Pensive, Doubting, Fearful Heart
Physician of My Sin Sick Soul

Subtle Spider Often Weaves, The
Supported by the Word
Sweet Was the Time When First I Felt
Sweeter Sounds Than Music Knows
Ten Thousand Talents Once I Owed
That Man No Guard or Weapons Needs
That Was a Wonder Working Word
Then the Apostle Wonders Wrought
Though Cloudy Skies and Northern Blasts
Though in the Outward Church Below
Though the Morn May Be Serene
Though Jericho Pleasantly Stood
Though Small the Drops of Falling Rain
Though Sore Beset with Guilt and Fear
Though Troubles Assail Us
Thus Saith the Holy One, and True
Thus Saith the Lord to Ephesus
Thy Mansion Is the Christian's Heart
Thy Message, by the Preacher, Seal
Thy Promise, Lord, and Thy Command
Time, by Moments, Steals Away
Time, with an Unwearied Hand
'Tis a Point I Long to Know
'Tis Past--he Dreadful Stormy Night
To Thee Our Wants Are Known
Unbelief the Soul Dismays
Uncertain How the Way to Find
Unless the Lord Had Been My Stay
Water Stood Like Walls of Brass, The
We Seek a Rest Beyond the Skies
Wearied by Day with Toils and Cares
What a Mournful Life Is Mine
What Contradictions Meet
On What Has Now Been Sown

When Adam Fell
When Any Turn from Zion's Way
When Descending from the Sky

When the Sun, with Cheerful Beams
When the Wounded Spirit Hears
While I Lived Without the Lord
While Joshua Led the Armed Bands
While Sinners Utter Boasting Words
While with Ceaseless Course the Sun
